Those in sales and marketing who think branding matters only when you're selling coffee, cars, and sneakers haven't been paying attention. The added value of a brand can be summed up in how proud you are of your organization and what it stands for. I’ve come to learn one thing – ironically enough, they don’t think branding is an important factor at all.
Branding isn't just for the big guys. It's important for everyone regardless of company size. Your brand is the crystallization of its identity, and with economies, mindsets and a host of other things changing, it’s best that these companies start adapting to change and recognize the imperative need for branding.

i think when they lost their memory and had someone to put new memory in them with good branding.
When every customer of yours does not have a good opinion or experience with you, than it's definitely time for you to realize the importance of branding. Then again that will be too late.
The key is branding is an on going process internally and externally varying from staffs to service to products.

Maybe when they realise they are not doing as well as they think they are. With branding they can achieve a lot more.
Your people in the organization represents your company's Brand. Not only the frontliners. It's include everyone in the company. Train your peole well and they will serve your customers well.
If the people in the organization not taking care of their brand. Definitely the organization will not long lasting. because nothing they can compare in future anymore.
many people still put a lot of focus on their company image (promotion, sales, advertising, marketing...etc). they tend to overlook the People and Process. no doubt, training people and fixing the process issue may take time, but it will take care of company's brand as well. consider it again before it is too late.
