How To Start Your CSR Program

As you would have guessed by now, today’s blog is about CSR and if you’re fired up and would like to know how to get started, here are some thoughts. Fortunately, it's pretty easy to get a handle on what CSR is and how companies are dealing with it from a communications standpoint. Large companies such as Reebok, Timberland, and the Gap have information on their CSR programs available to the public on their Web sites. It's also important to get the advocates' perspective; checking out reports issued and campaigns launched by Human Rights First and Global Exchange will help you get a sense of some of the hot button issues. Some business classes may also deal with the subject. Most corporate websites have content about what they do for CSR - click on the button and read up. You have to know what they’re all about and what their particular concerns are before attempting to approach them.

It is critical that we are conscious about giving back to the society as what goes around comes around and we must ensure that the corporate environment is certain that it is not just all business. A little Heart goes a long way.

I have always felt that companies nowadays are using CSR activities as publisity stunt to gain more mileage in the market.

How do you explain CSR activities of companies like British American Tobacco Malaysia (BATM) when cigarettes that the produce is killing many lives.

This is great info for the NGO's and groups of people that come together to take action on helping the unfortunate. Knowing that corporate companies are just waiting to contribute, this can really benefit the one's needing help.

CSR? not a new word in corporate world. It is just that corporate world are too engrossed making money and hardly giving it back to society. When the karma stopped, CSR emerge from the vault.

The question, is the government agency practicing this? lead by example is good, but walk the talk!

CSR - a good way of helping the needy by the corporate body. it is not only about publicity of the company, and not simply a short way to reduce tax; but it is more towards responsibility to those who are really in need.
